This is Smokey Rd. was one lane. |
Wow, it has been a while since we have had sunshine, I had seen it coming on weather.com so had planned for a week to ride on Friday. Was planning to go do solo but then Dru txted me saying she wanted to ride. So a trip was planned to go east of Columbus. Then that morning she had to cancel, so that's fine I have been missing the solo ride so I got on facebook one last time before taking off and there Carol and I started talking and planed to meet up in Mt. Vernon. Ten min. later she called and could not make it, so solo it is!
The route I picked out for us, I decided to go with. So up to Mt Vernon, I took all back little roads, I get tired of the usual rt. I didn't get as many pictures as I wanted, I need to stop more, many times when I want to stop it doesn't seem safe.

Usually see these on Freeways, just on a small back road. |

These little back roads are so fun just to mosey along on. Most of the roads were new to me and so sometimes you come onto situations that aren't so good. One such instant was north of Mt Vernon I came to a stop sign that was on a steeeeeepppppp hill. Panic started with that, but I had to turn right and when looking left you could not see down the road because there was a hill. These intersections should be outlawed even for cars it was very dangerous. Well after rolling back a bit, I made it out but my heart was racing big time. Ever since the experience last Sept. at my parents home in NC, where I got stuck on the steep lane, I have been jittery about stops on steep hills. I had to find a place to take a break after that. It does feel good to conquer fears such as these.
Found a small Dairy Shop and had lunch outside of Mt. Vernon on Rt. 3. Was a good break. Loved the ride, I did not take my music on this ride, needed the talk with God. Did 250 miles from 10:10 to 5:10. Was a much needed ride! It is rides like these that keep a hold of me and keep me coming back for more and more and more.
